Salvia's recent discovery by the West has led to an improvement in the ska pastora's methods of consumption, making the strength and intensity of a Salvia experience up to about 40 times higher (by smoking a Salvia extract) than by just chewing the plant's plain leaves.

This is not always good: some Salvia extracts are so concentrated with Salvinorin A (Salvia's main active chemical) that, although no overdose risks are known, it will most likely cause a terrifying experience to an inexperienced user.
